Far from becoming a supervillain that wipes out humanity, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a set of tools that can take organizational performance to new thresholds. Over the past few years, AI has been injected into more and more business processes, aided by automation and advancements in data collection. As a result, this powerful technology has evolved into a potent tool that businesses see as key to their future success.
As part of its Work Ahead research series, the Cognizant Center for the Future of Work (CFoW) recently surveyed 4,000 C-level executives to understand how they are putting AI to use. Not surprisingly, the CFoW found that AI is central to getting work done in today’s enterprise. As data volumes surge, AI is helping businesses churn through bits and bytes at an unprecedented scale to glean insights that strengthen their decision making and give them a competitive edge.
The CFoW also identified a group of “leaders” — businesses that have made the greatest progress with AI and prioritized the ethical and responsible application of AI. These organizations are taking more actions now to support the workforce in response to the pandemic — and foster far more flexibility and resiliency for the years to come.
Lastly, the CFoW’s research uncovered six steps that all organizations can take to successfully harness the power of AI in the work ahead.
