For the second time, Cognizant is Delft Hyperloop’s main partner. Delft Hyperloop is a team of 33 students from the Delft University of Technology, aiming to participate in the next SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, founded by Elon Musk. Previous competitions took place in January 2017, July 2018 and July 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

Transportation has not seen a revolution in over a hundred years and it is time for something new. In 2013, Elon Musk presented the solution: a high-speed transportation system using near-vacuum tubes in which pressurized vehicles travel. Due to low air resistance in the tubes, the vehicles can travel with speeds of over 1000 km/h while being more energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and convenient than airplanes.

To accelerate the development of the Hyperloop concept, SpaceX organizes the Hyperloop Pod Competition. Teams of students around the globe are challenged to design and build a half-sized Hyperloop pod, to travel through a 1.2-kilometer low-pressure tube, built by SpaceX in Hawthorne, California. Delft Hyperloop has competed in the previous three competitions and Delft Hyperloop IV is aiming to join the next one. 




With a team of 33 highly motivated students from various disciplines of the Delft University of Technology, we will prove the technical and commercial viability of the Hyperloop concept. Students from studies of Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering and Nanobiology represent the team. Together they combine their knowledge and expertise to bring Hyperloop technology and the concept to the next level.
