Centrality in Well-Being

The Wellness Pod from Yanfeng aims to kill 99.9% of germs in ride-sharing vehicles

When you climb into an Uber or Lyft vehicle, have you ever wondered just how “germy” it may be? (If not, bet you’re wondering now.) Fortunately, a company called Yanfeng is working to ease this anxiety by creating an ultraviolet sanitizer for ride-sharing vehicles.

The solution is called the Wellness Pod, and it attaches to the overhead console in the vehicle. A simple touch interface via smartphone puts the device to work, cleaning the air with invisible ultraviolet rays, as well as dispersing pleasant aromas to keep the car smelling fresh. As a bonus, Yanfeng claims several of the available scents will also be able to relieve a passenger’s motion sickness, if needed.

In testing, the UV air sanitizer and surface sanitizer reduced present bacteria by 99.9%. Indirect surfaces that didn't have total contact with the UV rays showed a 95% reduction.
