Point and Repair brings AR to household sustainability products

Point and Repair is a design prototype for a new augmented reality (AR) experience to help consumers upgrade their belongings. By pointing to or scanning a piece of damaged or worn furniture, the owner would actually be able to engage it in a conversation about how it might be upgraded or fixed. Solutions would be suggested depending on the type of damage detected and could range from upcycling tutorials to help ordering specific parts, rather than replacing an entire product.

Point and Repair would offer users access to easy and affordable choices for upgrading furniture, while simultaneously encouraging sustainable and circular consumption. The ability to repair components and parts – rather than simply opt to purchase new furniture – encourages an attitude focused on sustainability in the home, and an understanding of how the things we surround ourselves with are made.
