Our education initiatives are inspired by a commitment to better prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s opportunities, while ensuring that future generations will have the skills needed to compete and thrive in the global economy.
We strive to create and support learning experiences that are accessible, stimulating, enriching – and fun. At the same time, our education efforts are aligned with the needs of each region in our global network, with a particular focus on alleviating disparities in education due to gender, economic level, or distance from urban centers.
Cognizant’s Making the Future initiative seeks to spark an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education among young people in the US, to meet the demands of an increasingly technology-based economy. Since 2011, our Making the Future initiative has awarded over $9 million in grants, and has introduced more than 25,000 children to 1.5 million hours of making activities focused on STEM disciplines in 200 communities.
Our Project Outreach is one of the world’s largest corporate volunteer efforts, and focuses on learning, mentoring, career counseling and talent development. Outreach volunteers have logged over 1.25 million volunteer hours since inception in 2007. Today, Outreach is supporting learning initiatives in India, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia, Hungary, the Benelux region, UAE, Argentina, Germany, China, UK and North America. In 2015, nearly 33,000 Cognizant associates logged over 376,000 hours towards Outreach activities in 14 countries.
Additionally, Cognizant Foundation, which spearheads our corporate social responsibility initiatives in India, has been working extensively towards fulfilling the education, healthcare and livelihood needs of economically and socially disadvantaged segments of society.

There's an education crisis in the U.S.: a relative decline in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) proficiency, fewer young people interested in STEM fields and—perhaps most alarming—a decline in measured creativity. The future competitiveness and innovative capacity of the U.S., the quality of our workforce and the prosperity of future generations are at risk.
Cognizant's Making the Future education initiative was created to unleash the passion of young people in STEM disciplines by creating fun, hands-on learning opportunities. Through financial, in-kind and volunteer support for schools and nonprofits; advocacy; college scholarships; and our flagship Making the Future After-School and Summer Program, Cognizant seeks to develop 21st century skills like creativity, innovation and collaboration that will create a brighter future for our children, preparing them to be tomorrow's leaders in our global economy.
Furthering the proud tradition of Project Outreach, Cognizant employees are volunteering to enhance education in the communities where they live and work. For more information, contact MakingtheFuture@Cognizant.com
