To offer differentiated products and services that deliver the ultimate customer experience—as well as to stay relevant and competitive in the digital economy—organizations must reimagine their business models and reconfigure their IT backbones. That means moving to an agile infrastructure that leverages a seamless hybrid architecture, including public and private cloud platforms.
Cognizant’s Hybrid Cloud offering enables you to benefit from new cloud technologies to bring powerful improvements while optimizing your existing IT investment. You can dynamically orchestrate application workloads between the public and private cloud, and unify your underlying architecture with integrated processes, tools and comprehensive governance.
Cognizant’s Hybrid Cloud offers a comprehensive portfolio of components designed to enhance your ability to embrace the cloud and its benefits—accelerating time to market and giving you a significant competitive edge.
Cognizant’s Hybrid Cloud core provides a solution architecture for integrating multiple cloud provider environments and technology components. Applications can utilize pooled resources across cloud environments and federate across clouds, with the Hybrid Cloud core providing the fabric that makes this possible.
The Hybrid Cloud core provides automated governance across disparate environments and technology components in a complex hybrid cloud ecosystem. It also provides predefined domain-specific controls such as PCI/HIPAA.
Security is a fundamental aspect of Hybrid Cloud. By including the right sets of tools and integrations, the hybrid foundation ensures availability of critical features such as authentication, authorization and granular access control.
Also included are tools that serve as the central point for log aggregation from different sources and alert administrators to the occurrence of any out of the ordinary event.
The Hybrid Cloud solution provides single sign-on with Enterprise Active Directory and advanced authentication mechanisms such as multifactor authentication and digital rights management (DRM).
Cognizant’s Cloud Management Platform (CMP) offers self-service and brokerage capabilities across clouds. The CMP takes provisioning automation to a new level, with features such as application profile-based provisioning, DevOps integration and configuration automation.
The CMP also provides other insightful features, such as cloud brokerage, capacity management, intelligent workload placement and lifecycle actions for workloads across clouds.
The key elements of Cognizant’s approach to Hybrid Cloud are our architecture and transformation blueprints, which present a tested, proven way to adopt hybrid cloud and onboard applications.
Even large IT organizations with varied skillsets are often unable to adopt cloud with optimum speed and certainty. Our application onboarding services ensure a smooth adoption of the Hybrid Cloud, reducing risk and downtime as you migrate to the cloud.
For effective and automated service management, Cognizant implements a self-service approach to service management with an end-to-end monitoring and performance management architecture that covers everything from applications to infrastructure. Our monitoring framework leverages native public cloud tools as well as third-party monitoring and application service management tools.
Embedded in the Cognizant Hybrid Cloud environment are leading-edge tools for backup and data protection across the cloud, along with information lifecycle management and archival capabilities.
With predefined deployment options for high availability within the site and across sites (a multisite approach), Cognizant’s data protection and business continuity features cover the public cloud and architectures with a multiregion approach.
With a digital delivery model that adapts to ever-changing market demands, Cognizant enables a customized approach to maximize the cloud’s business value. Combining industry and technology expertise with intellectual property (IP) and accelerators, we help you adopt “Cloud@Scale.”
Cognizant’s data-rich decision-making tool, CloudFrame, provides cost estimates and comparisons of service providers and hardware/software components, so you can gauge the impact of a Cloud-for-Digital strategy.
Our enterprise-wide automation platform, Cognizant® Automation Center, brings in hyper-automation for IT operations through artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning-based techniques, making operations predictive and preemptive in nature. It also integrates operations and governance across application and infrastructure platforms, transforming the role of IT from business enabler to business driver.
AppLens, Cognizant’s proprietary application assessment framework, helps your organization determine the workloads that should be migrated to the cloud.
Cognizant's in-house migration management tool, ArcTern, aligns with migration methodologies, using automated workflows and comprehensive, near-real-time governance for large migration projects.
Centrica, one of the largest utilities in the U.K., operates in an increasingly competitive and fast-moving market. To ensure its future competitiveness, the company knew it had to keep pace with the digital discord reshaping the industry. Centrica had an ambitious goal: be a digital company by 2020 and harness the potential of the cloud to revitalise its legacy IT environment. Centrica turned to Cognizant's cloud enablement experts for a solution to simplify its IT landscape.
With the Cirrus programme, Cognizant proposed a wholesale modernisation of Centrica’s IT estate. The project involved more than 220 business services and over eight petabytes of data, as well as migrating to a new hybrid cloud model that would give the company the business agility and efficiency it needed.
We developed a digital-ready hybrid cloud platform, deploying both public and Cognizant private clouds as a fully integrated, secure technology backbone, in 20 months. An evergreen approach keeps the platform consistently up to date with the latest versions of software and firmware. An automation layer that sits across the entire backbone provides Centrica self-service capabilities. Next-generation infrastructure and storage dramatically improve uptime and resilience, driving significant gains in the throughput and performance of business applications.
In addition, we collaborated to enhance Centrica’s capability to guard against cyberattacks and breaches that could impact the business and its customers.
Centrica can now respond faster and with greater agility to the demands of an intensely competitive market. The company can develop and launch new products faster and compete head to head with the born-digital entrants. And a robust, resilient, secure and future-proof infrastructure supports it all. The result is improved performance across multiple business applications and reduced susceptibility to cyberattacks and associated losses. Moving away from fixed costs to a consumption-based model means Centrica now has real visibility and cost control, paying only for what it uses.
