Standard Life Insurance had several goals: better predictability of its IT costs, increased transparency through a consumption-based pricing model, and the cost benefits achieved by limiting future capital investment and improving internal processes. In addition, the company’s critical IT infrastructure needed to be replaced as it neared obsolescence.
Agile infrastructure and increasing automation were key to improving the company’s speed to market and supporting the rapid pace of its business expansion. Other critical objectives included freeing the internal IT organization to focus on strategic activities and supporting corporate sustainability objectives with a more energy-efficient data center.
We worked with Standard Life to deploy a private cloud infrastructure across two data centers and migrate all business services to the new infrastructure. We managed multiple third-party suppliers across communications, network and data centers while conducting the migration, which was completed on time and without disrupting the business.
Strategic use of the new technology enables Standard Life’s IT group to focus on generating business innovation and directly supporting business stakeholders in areas such as customer engagement. Cognizant manages the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) provisioning.
The solution enabled Standard Life to deploy a pay-per-use pricing model, reduce both time to market and capital investment, and improve operational resilience to provide consistent availability of business applications.
