Health Insurer Accesses Data Seamlessly With Cloud-based HR Analytics


The Challenge

To help alleviate its heavy reliance on manual processes, a large U.S. health insurance company needed a governance model to integrate access to all human capital data and key performance indicators (KPIs). The company wanted an intuitive data visualization solution with an interactive dashboard for “Hire to Retire” KPIs. The new solution had to be scalable, with a solid foundation for HR analytics to accommodate additional data sources.


Our Approach

Cognizant led a first-of-its-kind implementation, consolidating and retiring three analytics applications, with Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) as the single enterprise reporting tool. Developing a strategic, executive reporting solution with Oracle BI Cloud Service for a BI analytics application, we:

  • Established cloud-to-cloud connectivity with predefined data, business and governance rules
  • Merged enterprise-wide data from diverse, on-premises and cloud applications using prebuilt adapters and unique data mash-ups
  • Leveraged Oracle BI Cloud Service for data visualization to quickly deploy an interactive chief HR officer (CHRO) dashboard and HR analytics application
  • Provided a “drill to details” function to cull additional business insights from data

This new platform gives HR executives and business partners a single, highly visual point of access to reliable KPIs, with easy-to-use navigation. Users can now access a wealth of information collected from diverse applications, providing unique business insights in a way that was impossible before.
