Winning a Bigger Share of the Digital Wallet

The Challenge

A major credit card issuer needed a solution that would enable consumers to add their credit cards to Android Pay directly through the issuer’s mobile app. The challenge was replacing the existing complicated process of credit card linking on the app with a secure, easy-to-use and simple “pay and go” mobile solution.

Our Approach

The issuer selected Cognizant based on our successful track record with the company and because we are a trusted advisor for a wide range of its business services. Our “in-app provisioning” solution—a first for the Android marketplace and poised for greater use worldwide—enabled automatic linking of a credit card on the app.

Cognizant devised the solution using our Design Thinking methodology and in collaboration with the issuer and Google. This agile development approach meant the solution was conceived, designed and implemented within 10 months.

In-App Provisioning Ensures Quicker Transactions

In-app provisioning—a solution supported by Cognizant’s Design Thinking methodology, and a first for the Android marketplace—adds the app user’s credit card details to Android Pay. This capability makes the entire process automatic; it takes just one tap on the phone. By collaborating and focusing the solution on customer centricity, the end result significantly increases the issuer’s transaction volume and improves the app’s market penetration.
