Learn MoreFinancial services companies operate in an ever-tougher competitive landscape. To survive and thrive, they must out-innovate the competition. A global financial services firm worked with Cognizant's banking technology team and Pivotal to achieve this goal by transforming monolithic, difficult-to-use applications to cloud-native applications.
To overcome the challenges, Cognizant took over the existing behind-schedule application consolidation effort and set up a product-focused engineering team. The team used Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) as a platform as a service (PaaS) to speed application modernization and Extreme Programming practices, such as pair programming, to boost quality. This method moved the code into production as soon as it was ready, even before the preplanned milestone date.
The coordinated efforts of the team—made up of staff from the client, Cognizant and Pivotal Labs—enabled them to make quick changes based on feedback, prioritize work and train the client on the Pivotal platform.
Cognizant and Pivotal helped the client shift more of its IT budget from maintenance to innovation and equipped partnerships with both financial technology innovators and legacy technology partners. This enabled the client to devote more effort to delivering new products and services and ensuring it stays ahead of the competition.
