This travel and luxury goods retailer is the world's leading destination for international travelers seeking the world's finest brands. With stores, located in cosmopolitan and resort locations throughout the world, the retailer offers an elegant shopping experience and incomparable services. The business is based on internationally recognized luxury brands, contemporary and fashion labels, as well as destination specific merchandise in an exciting, entertaining and enticing retail environment. The concept stores vary in size from about 175,000 square feet to less than 20,000 square feet. Travelers shop with confidence in an environment inspired by the local color and beauty of the destination, and enjoys the value and convenience that only the client can provide.

 
Situation

The retailer has disparate operations on a very large scale, with stores spanning continents. The store operations business area needed a major facelift. This would mean development of new solutions around the existing applications and required critical support and maintenance of multiple applications to cater their critical business needs. One of the requirements was a Common POS solution across all the Divisions.

 
Solutions

Cognizant's approach to the initiative was to start with a business & technology re-engineering assessment to identify the areas that can be focal points. This consultative study laid a foundation for identifying opportunity areas for improvement and key business requirements. Subsequently, a functional and technology road map was created in order to address the identified pain points.

 

Cognizant carried out a POS package evaluation exercise in which 'Triversity' was identified as the suitable package for our client's need. For customization of the package and development of new interfacing applications, Cognizant engaged a team of Store Operations Consultants, Business Analysts and Software Engineers. Cognizant implemented the project in our client's divisions across multiple regions within the specified time line.
