The client is a distributor of newspapers and magazines for numerous publishers and is a subsidiary and primary vendor of one of the most widely circulated newspapers in the United States.

Client conducts most of its business through an AS/400-based Agency Billing System. The entire business comprises of processes like allotment, billing, invoice generation, route maintenance, accounts receivables and customer maintenance. Client has received significant volume of enhancement requests from its business users. Facing constraints of internal resources, client approached Cognizant to augment the existing team with additional resources and handle application enhancements.

Using our Application Value Management methodology and experience, provided a tremendous value-add to the client. We are currently performing some major and complex enhancements to the application.

Our engagement with client has resulted in development of various reports and investigative analysis of customer profiles, dealing with newspaper returns from customer, etc.

In the process, Cognizant applied its deep understanding of business concepts related to newspaper delivery (acquiring customers, allocation, order regulation, invoicing, and billing), warehouse management, routing, advanced delivery, etc.
