| The client is a
diversified industrial intermediaries and
consumer goods manufacturer. The client
has global operations. Major areas of business
include Consumer and Office Business, Environment
Health and Safety, Automotive, and others. |
| |
| Each of the client's
Market Centers and business units had an
individual Web site. There were more than
1600 such Web sites. A key issue was poor
customer user experience. To overcome this
issue, the corporate e-business team developed
a framework for Web site development. The
framework, called Enterprise Website Creation
and Delivery Platform (EWCD), was based
on IBM Portal Server and Fatwire Content
Server, along with other COTS products (such
as search engine). |
| |
| Cognizant's solutions
to the client included: |
| |
- EWCD portal planning and definition
- Analysis and evaluation of products
- Analysis and design of Architecture
Views: Logical, Functional, System,
Technological, and Deployment
- Ongoing maintenance and support of
the EWCD framework
|
| |
| Benefits
of the solution included: |
| |
- Availability of a single source of
information on the EWCD framework for
the client’s employees, partners,
and visitors
- Provision of information to decision
makers to understand the benefits of
the EWCD framework
- Access for developers and architects
to enable them to access information
and build Web sites based on the EWCD
framework
- Efficiency of operations in managing
Web sites through a uniform solution
base, with a common repository of reusable
components and templates
- Uniform deployment of corporate standards
and marketing initiatives
- Work flow efficiencies and compatibility
between in-house applications and package
products
- Scope for cost savings in capital
costs and operational costs
