Teaneck, NJ-July 4 2005-Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH), a leading provider of IT services, today announced that it was chosen as the "Best U.S. Company in India" for 2005 as part of the first Indo-American Corporate Excellence (I-ACE) Awards instituted by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC). Cognizant was selected for the award based on its financial performance, human capital development, corporate social responsibility and its stellar contribution to Indo-U.S. business.

The award was presented to Cognizant by the United States Consul General in Mumbai India, Angus T Simmons. On receiving the award, Cognizant's President and CEO, Lakshmi Narayanan, said, "It's a great honor for Cognizant to accept this award. This is a prestigious recognition of our unique global business model which includes high-touch customer relationship building and execution excellence. It's also a tribute to our customers, employees and other stakeholders, and a validation of Cognizant's leadership status amongst global IT services firms."

The award function, held in Mumbai on July 2 was attended by over 500 guests, including representatives of the Indo-American business community, the U.S. Consulate, consular corps from around the world, leading professionals and celebrities.
