Cognizant’s Global Technology Office (GTO) tracks technology trends and provides strategic direction for Cognizant and its customers. As market forces reshape companies and business models change, GTO’s pragmatic research and experience-based guidance is helping organizations to succeed in new and evolving environments.
GTO’s extensive expertise—spanning mature, advanced and emerging technologies—enables us to generate innovative ideas, solutions and frameworks that address today’s IT challenges. We focus on pressing business problems and collaborate with our practices worldwide on solutions that help reduce development costs, streamline business processes and speed time to market.
GTO's Operating Model
GTO teams explore new technologies every day. We incubate and evaluate them through proof of concepts, and we establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to nurture the most promising. When our teams have developed a full range of support assets—including frameworks, solutions, assets, and people—we frequently spin off Centers of Excellence (CoEs) working on mature technologies as Cognizant business units.
Innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our labs and COEs showcase a wide range of emerging technologies in promising areas such as cloud, mobile computing, advanced web and enterprise architecture. We create new service offerings based on market demand, and the tools we build improve productivity and delivery for Cognizant and for our clients.
GTO teams also support Cognizant and client projects with insight and thought leadership on complex technologies.

Within Cognizant, GTO manages active technology communities for Java, Microsoft, enterprise architecture, and mainframes, enabling information sharing through forums and webinars and through facilitating the adoption of tools, products and frameworks. These forums can be accessed 24/7 by the tech specialists for the latest tools and techniques as well.

GTO’s world-class lab infrastructure helps forward-thinking leaders reshape their organizations for ever changing business landscape. Within eight Centers of Excellence, our R&D professionals incubate the latest technologies and explore their application to real-world business problems. We keep you consistently ahead of the business/IT curve by delivering emerging-technology developments.

In addition to the COEs, GTO’s research and development staff explores ways in which emerging and next-generation technologies can transform enterprises, preparing them for the Future of Work.
Working virtually with other Cognizant teams around the world, our GTO Connect strategic consulting program provides some of the world’s largest companies with guidance at the leadership level. (Many of our clients were introduced to social, mobile and Cloud-enabled systems in GTO labs.) Today, we’re exploring the business impact of other promising developments in areas such as machine learning, green IT and artificial intelligence.
