New Business and Underwriting Support

    Cognizant provides new business set-up services to both individual and group insurance customers. The services include end-to-end processing of policies from receipt of voluntary applications through to policy issuance:

    Cognizant provides underwriting support, from simple rules-based workflows to complex medical underwriting:
  • Clinical review of underwriting requests for Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Life Products.
  • Request missing or additional information from members and physicians
  • Final decisions and/or recommendations based on guidelines, procedures and clinical judgment.

Agency and Distribution Management

    Our agency and distribution management services support processing of a “Contracting Request” form in Good Order Review to determine if background investigation is required. We update systems and document actions to complete requests. This includes:
  • Processing of new agent setup requests
  • Receiving agent change requests from regional offices, or various third parties
  • Notifying the requester of completion of request
  • Receiving requests for set-up of new compensation agreements or modification of existing compensation agreements
  • Receiving and completing requests for Agent Maintenance relating to compensation agreements
  • Commissions Management

Policy Administration Support

    Cognizant provides policy management and administration services across Life, P&C, Annuity and Retirement policies:
  • Processing of contract maintenance and policy requests
  • Premium Audit: Data Collection & Processing Audit
  • Endorsements, Renewal, Cancellations and Reinstatements
  • Complex Policy Admin Services including Loans & Withdrawals, Annuitization, 1035 Exchange Transfers, Reg 60 processing, etc.

  • Review and release requests received for direct bill/case‑level premium refunds & set-up of electronic fund transfers
  • Monitor suspense and dues reports to identify suspense and reconciliation issues
  • Eligibility of pay-out, verification/authorization and transferring funds

    Supporting Life, Retirement and P&C customers, we streamline and manage claims, while strengthening fraud detection and management. We have experience across the claims life cycle: notification, assignment, coverage, investigation, adjudication, processing, reserve management, payment and recovery
  • Analytics expertise on fraud, predictive modeling, overpayment detection, loss reserve estimation model, etc.
